Moving To Dallas

Featured / Fitness Photographer / Travel / January 13, 2015

When I came back to the States in 2010, I was certain that I was going “to live and die in LA”, just like that Tupac song. To me, LA is a perfect city (sun, weather, activities) with the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. I met Andy here and we quickly built a life together, marriage after 14 months, and baby 10 months later. Life was extremely fast paced in SoCal but it was all good.

Fast forward 3 years later, as we were just getting comfortable in our first home that we bought together, Andy received a career opportunity that he couldn’t refuse in Dallas, under his lifelong mentor who jumped companies a few months ahead of him. We talked a lot about the opportunity…. It would be an entire upheaval of my businesses and brand…. Shoot, I had JUST received the Best of 2014 Los Angeles – Photography award two weeks ago!

….But there was a part of me that realized that this was the RIGHT move to make. My business is 80% online, my client base is global, I work from home, and my daily life was living la Vida Toddler. With a husband in the corporate world, I understand that if you want that Golden Parachute, the days are gone where you can be stagnant in one office for the entirety of your career.

So we pulled the trigger in October and Andy started immediately in Dallas.

It’s been a race to get our house sold (The Monica Diaz team killed it, got us more than asking in less than 3 weeks, look them up if you’re in SoCal), find a new home, setup temporary housing, and begin the process of moving my businesses to TX.

So today is bittersweet, but filled with such a bright future. As much as I hate the physical part of moving, I LOVE new adventures. I love how Dallas is very family oriented. I love that Dallas is the fastest growing USA metropolitan in the last decade, ties CA in the # of Fortune 500s in-state, and has no state income tax. There’s pros and cons of course to moving from CA to TX, I’ve made my peace with it and fear nothing as of now.

As an introduction to the local market, I booked a double booth for my businesses at the 2015 Dallas Europa (70k attendees -June 19/20). I’ll need some extra hands on deck so if you want to help just holler!

SEE Y’ALL IN TEXAS!
